The Sahara really is a cool place to be

The Sahara is immense and measures nearly 3.5 million square miles, and spreads it’s sands into 10 countries.  Niger and Libya arguably offer some of the most impressive scenery.

Morocco is also impressive and provides the easiest access point to this part of the world, indeed many budget tour companies actually run out of Marrakech, the main city in the South of Morocco.

BEING IN THE DESERT IS ABOUT BEING PREPARED.

One thing to always remember is that the desert is cold at night. No special gear is required. Tents and cooking equipment are provided by guides, as are meals, which start with bread baked under embers in the hot sand. To protect yourself from the sun and wind, you could bring a hat and kerchief.

The easiest and cheapest way of getting to the Sahara is to go via London and fly the UK budget airline Easyjet to Morocco.

If you are travelling to Africa, even on a budget, then ensure you have suitable travel insurance over 75 before you leave your home nation.
